For those of you who own DVD’s and want to be able to watch them on your computer without always having to carry a disk around with you, DVD ripping is for you. The best DVD ripper I see on the market today is Handbrake. With Handbrake you have the ability to burn to many formats and also convert other video files to different formats. Handbrake is not In the repositories, however the websites download link takes you to a Launchpad ppa page. or for even more geek-cred download from their git-hub repo. The tool is GNU licensed and installs fine. there is both a Graphical version and a CLI version.
Have Fun!
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:stebbins/handbrake-releasessudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install handbrake-gtk
For gui version use:
For cli version use:
sudo apt-get install handbrake-cli

Hey! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog article or vice-versa?
My site discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you are interested feel free to shoot me an email.
I look forward to hearing from you! Excellent blog by the way!
